James was born and raised in Far Rockaway, Queens, and is a proud father to two wonderful children—James (JJ) and Jamielle (Jamie)—and a devoted husband to his wife, Shawnnasia. A true kid at heart, James is an avid Pokémon collector, passionate about finding rare cards and childhood artifacts that have grown in value over time. Before his recent diagnosis, traveling with his family was one of his greatest joys, becoming a beloved tradition they looked forward to each year.

In his free time, James loves playing video games, watching Netflix, visiting garage sales in search of hidden treasures, and simply enjoying quality time with his loved ones. Professionally, he is a respected NYC DOE paraprofessional with nearly a decade of service, especially admired by his students, many of whom stay connected with him long after leaving the classroom. His colleagues often speak of his dedication, warmth, and genuine care for every child he supports.

Now facing one of the greatest challenges of his life, James continues to lead with optimism and strength, holding onto hope for a kidney transplant and a healthier future surrounded by the people he loves most.
